Tulips in Sight wants to create a network of flower production centers that will provide high quality tulips to be marketed within a reasonable radius of each center to guarantee freshness and optimal customer satisfaction.

History
The owners of Tulips in Sight can trace their ancestry back over 300 years to the Van Meer family of Noord-Brabant, a province in the Netherlands. The ensuing generations prospered through various aspects of the family’s farming business until 1968, when Piet van Meer decided to sell the existing business and begin anew. This new venture was located in Flevoland, also known as the Nordoost Polder, and provided Piet with the opportunity of breeding livestock and expanding crop farming on a much larger scale. In 1971, another opportunity in the form of flower bulb production presented itself. This new aspect of the family business was so successful that a complete conversion to the production of flower bulbs was undertaken in 1974 and the family never looked back. In 1976, the oldest van Meer son, Jan, took control of the business. Young, enthusiastic and well educated, Jan continued to expand the bulb business by using the latest innovations. From a small contra-growing business, the company has grown into an industry leader. It now cultivates and grows tulips in both the Netherlands and France. Starting out as a simple hectare venture, the company now cultivates over 60 hectares in Flevoland and Zeeland in Holland, and Les Landes in France. Tulips in Sight controls all aspects of tulip production from the planting of the bulbs to the merchandising of the flowers. The company employs over 50 people during high season and continues to provide strong familial leadership. The new generation, in the person of Jordi van Meer, is being groomed to take Tulips in Sight to the next level of excellence.

The last few years have seen tremendous growth in the cut flower aspect of the business. Niagara Tulips is the North American division of Tulips in Sight and its talented sales team provides the company’s clients with the knowledge and experience needed to successfully serve the customers’ needs. Recently, an ultra-modern greenhouse was constructed in Canada to provide efficient mechanical processing of tulip bouquets. These bouquets are then distributed to our clients abroad as well as directly to stores in the Netherlands. It is our goal to continually offer a top quality product in the most efficient and expedient manner.
